⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review: Writing Fight Scenes by Rayne Hall

Writing fiction and producing guidance or learning materials are two very different things. One must always remember what the objective of the piece is, whether that’s explaining theory to those who like to analyse and ponder, or provide direction or a call to action. Rayne Hall is one of those remarkable writers who is able to deliver in each area. Her writers’ craft books are packed full of information, examples, practical exercises, language tips, things to avoid, and in this case even information around different types of weapon. Writing Fight Scenes provides a helpful roadmap for even the most experienced writer, whether you are writing about weres, women or wizards! Each chapter focuses on a particular type of fight (eg battle, self defence, brawl and so on), with a plain english explanation of what works and why, the fight arc and things to beware of. I cannot recommend this book highly enough! I frequently return to it, with each read offering something new. Whether you read it from cover to cover of dip in and out as a reference book, this book is great value for money!

Thanks for the rec! Badly written/unrealistic fight scenes are a major turn-off for me as a reader, so as a writer, writing them credibly and well is a high priority!
