It’s been a very exciting couple of weeks. My publisher, Booktrope, ceased trading on 20 May, leaving me in a bit of a quandary and quite a lot to do.
First of all, I decided to re-release The Sophie Morgan Vampire Series (books 1 and 2) under my own “label”, Tea-Talks-Books. What followed was a lengthy process of negotiating terms with my creative terms to continue working with them and source new material where needed. Then it was a case of deciding the best distribution outlets to secure space in online stores and a while raft of formatting for various reading devices and for paperback. I learned a few lessons doing all that I can tell you!
Second, what to do with my books previously self published exclusively to Amazon? Before being signed to Booktrope I released two “short reads” – a collection of short stories/flash fiction and another of poetry. The preparations for publishing under Tea-Talks-Books was so stress free that I decided to re-release both books under that banner, extending their ebook version to Nook/ Barnes and Noble, iBooks, Kobo and beyond. This means that even more people can enjoy them.
Throw in the fact that I’ve been hunched over a keyboard finishing the first, crappy draft of the third Sophie Morgan book, Hostile Relations, and it’s all been pretty hectic! The first round of self editing, rewriting and drafting additional content has already begun and I hope to release it late summer/early autumn. You could say I’ve been glued to a screen for the last three weeks. At least my son has been going to be bed on time so I’ve managed to squeeze in some time in the evenings and during his nap time.
I promise to be better at updating you guys and gals now that the mania has subsided – not excessively though; after all, I need to get this third book out for you. It’s all go in this one – vampires, gangmasters, bodies in the River Taff and the destitute of Cardiff under threat of a sinister villain. Oooh I can’t wait to share it with you.
